Guarding Your Personal Power
In order to move toward the life you desire, you have to protect your personal power. Too often, individuals give someone else in their life access to controlling their thoughts and behaviors. For example, if you find someone in your life makes you feel bad on a regular basis, it is likely you are allowing that individual to have power. Protect yourself and manage your own thoughts.
Because, as an adult, you are in control of your time. You can establish healthy boundaries. Signs of unhealthy boundaries in a relationship include a person who stops by without calling even though you have told them you want them to call first. Or a person who schedules your time for you without asking. Clear parameters can help to build mutually respectful relationships. But it’s not always easy, it can take energy to establish and maintain healthy boundaries.
Learning to say no can be liberating. After all, if you are agreeing to task after task you do not want to do, you will likely begin to feel bitter. Having self respect is not being unkind. Stand up for yourself and build relatinships in which you feel safe, your boundaries are respected, you feel valued, and your needs are being met.
Setting boundaries is one way to attract postivity, and there are habits you can develop on your own, too. For example, notice if you are in the habit of complaining. If you are often complaining but rarely solving problems, you are giving power to the problem. When you control your attitude, you can move toward thoughtful resolutions, boosting your personal power.
Standing up for yourself means can build the life you desire and deserve. When you are mired with doubt and unhealthy relationships, you may be afraid of failing or afraid of succeeding. Build your personal power and build your courage.
Take Advantage of Your Own Power
When you have courage inside of yourself to move through the day, that means that you are using your own internal power to control yourself, your emotions, and how you respond to others.
