What to Do When Feeling Overwhelmed

What to Do When Feeling OverwhelmedFeeling overwhelmed is not a good way to live life. It can make you anxious, depressed, and even angry. During this time in your life, you should feel free and happy. You should be able to appreciate life in a new way.

Tips on What to Do When Feeling Overwhelmed

Since you can’t prevent feeling overwhelmed every single time it happens, there are some things you can do while you are feeling that way that will help you achieve peace of mind.

Take Back Control

Many times, people feel overwhelmed because they lose control of situations. The best way to ease that overwhelming feeling is to take back control. It’s not always possible to do that, but there’s usually something in your life that you can take control of that will make you feel much better about what you can’t control.

Organize

Another reason people feel overwhelmed is because they have way too much to handle and then it can seem like they have more than they really do. The best way to deal with that is by organizing the situation that is making you feel this way. As you organize, you may feel as though the situations aren’t as bad as you thought. You may even find that you can do something about the situation even though you didn’t think so previously.

Brain Chatter

Brain chatter is something I blogged about last week. This is when your self-talk won’t stop, and it’s mostly negative. When you have your mind poking you over and over about so many things, it can cause you to feel overwhelmed. By using the strategies in my brain chatter blog post, you’ll be able to handle situations in front of you with easier.

Prioritize

When you’re in the midst of a crisis, it can be hard to know what to do first. This is why it’s a good idea to prioritize. Find what is most important and deal with that first. When that is taken care of deal with the next thing. The great thing about this is you will feel much better about the situations you’re faced with every single time you handle even a small part of it.

Take a Break

When you have too much going on, you’ll feel as though you can’t keep up. Take a break and see how you feel the next day or in a couple of days. Usually, it’s exactly what you need.
