A phone is a way to connect and discuss issues.

Why Online Therapy Works

If you are considering online therapy, you are not alone. Online counseling, also known as online therapy, tele-therapy, and distance therapy, is a path to resolving personal problems through phone calls, email, chats, and online platforms. Online therapy works and has recently grown in popularity. It can be especially helpful for individuals who have social anxiety or trouble with transportation.

When you are suffering, help is available. Counselors and therapist devote their careers to helping others. That said, you will need to find the right person for you. If you have a specific concern, from addiction to marriage issues, you may want to connect with a professional who has expertise in that specific area. Discuss the areas that you are hoping to heal early on in discussions.

Online Therapy Works for Individuals with Transportation Issues

Some individuals living in remote or rural communities simply do not have access to a range of mental health professionals. In some instances, they have already reached out to professionals in their community and have not found a good fit. Then, a remote connection could be just what is needed to help an individual. People may be coping with depression, anxiety, grief and loss, and other life changes. Help is a phone call away when a person connects with a personal support service.

Because online sessions simply rely on Internet access or a working phone, it is also a lifeline for people with physical limitations, whether they have mobility issues or are disabled. With virtual options, support is available from the comfort of an individual’s home. Plus, you can schedule your sessions for the times and days that are best for you.

A lot of information and knowledge is accessible because of Internet access, and this is also true of support for mental health concerns. Even individuals who are not tech savvy can benefit, or use telephone calls as another option. Tele-therapy can help individuals to find strength when going through difficult times and learn ways to improve their lives. Online therapy works for individuals who are coping with personal issues, even day-to-day troubles, and diagnosed mental health concerns.

A Way to Communicate Comfortably

Many do not want to participate in traditional therapy. Some do not want to go to the same office at the same scheduled day and time. For instance, if a person lives in a small community they may not want to be seen going into a therapist’s office weekly. They may want the fact they are talking to a counselor to be private. Or, they simply do not feel well enough to travel.

Plus, some find it easier to be honest about their experiences when they are not face to face with another person. Over the phone, in whatever environment makes them at ease, they can be completely honest. And honesty is a path to healing.
